Subcommittee will forward to Proviso Subcommittee a recommendation that the State Library receive $1 million from the lottery for public libraries. Through  CONTACT _Con-41679C6B53 Curtis Rogers encouraged SCLA membership to contact members of Proviso Subcommittee to show support. Subcommittee understands the need for PASCAL funding. I provided staff options for PASCAL funding at several levels. At this time, there appears no support for funding for school library-media centers. The budget shortfall for FY10-11 has been set at $500 million. With revenues declining further, that number might be nearer to $600 million when the House debates the budget Feb. 16-18. House Ways and Means Higher Education/Cultural Agencies Subcommittee asked cultural agency heads about where they would like to be in a restructured state government. Subcommittee Chair Limehouse indicated that restructuring would possibly occur. I encouraged a number of public library directors to contact members of House Education and Public Works Committee and Senate Transportation Committee to get the committees to report out H. 3903 and S. 745 (both bills deal with I Support Libraries license tags). House Education and Public Works Committee is set to discuss the week on Feb. 16-18. Next Weeks Schedule. House of Representatives will be on furlough. Several committees will meet. Proviso Subcommittee of Ways and Means Committee will meet at 10:30am, Tuesday, Feb. 9th.
